Mel is a multi-certified yoga instructor with certifications in Vinyasa Flow, Bikram Yoga, Alignment & Adjustments, and Yoga Therapy. With additional education in Anatomy, along with a strong understanding of Hindi Philosophy and body movement, Mel uniquely merges both the physical and spiritual elements into her teaching. Trained in both the United States and India, there is challenging yet compassionate balance to the way she explores yoga both on and off the mat. Her sold out workshops on both coasts have given yogis a deeper sense of where their yoga comes from, why we move our bodies, and a closer connection to the lineage of our practice.
I first found yoga my freshman year of college. I instantly fell in love, and I fell hard. A little over ten years has passed and I am now a 200hr certified yoga instructor. Yoga has helped me to find stability, focus, and balance both on the mat and in my daily life.
After suffering a debilitating back injury 2 years ago, and taking a 6 month hiatus, I returned to yoga a timid and scared beginner. The experience was humbling and it has helped me to better understand what new students, and students returning after an injury might be experiencing internally. We have all been beginners, and some of us have been ‘beginners’ more than once. I hope to being all my students a sense of tranquility, ease, well being, and accomplishment through my classes. Although yoga is a physically rigorous practice, it is also fun, uplifting, and for me, a very spiritual area of my life.
I have recently started an Ashtanga practice; Something I had been wanting to do for years, but was in fact too nervous to try. Needless to say there was absolutely nothing to fear, and I love practicing this style of yoga, as well as practicing and teaching vinyasa and flow style classes. In the near future I hope to start my 300hr certification and continue to delve deeper into the vast ocean that is yoga.
Stephanie is grateful to be doing what she loves, teaching yoga to both adults and children. She discovered her passion for yoga during her very first class at a local yoga studio on Long Island. Now five years after that first class, Stephanie is a RYT 200, certified by the Yoga Alliance, through Absolute Yoga's Refined Flow Teacher Training Program. She is also a certified Children's Yoga Teacher through Yogi Beans. Her classes reflect a unique combination of various styles: Anusara- an alignment and philosophical based practice, Prana Flow- an energetic, creative flow that moves with the breath and a bhavana, or feeling state, and Lila, or play, her background in children's yoga brings out a playfulness and aliveness in every class!
Michele is a graduate from the world renowned ISHTA Teacher Training where she received her 200 HR certification. She started yoga in 2002 with no other intention but to supplement her training for long runs and marathons. She quickly fell in love with yoga and all its tremendous benefits and began to practice regularly. For Michele, yoga is a never ending journey exploring inward and learning about your true self.
Having worked with special education preschoolers and their families as a school psychologist- it's her hope to integrate yoga principles and techniques to help these caregivers by acquiring the ability to breathe through their unique stressful, challenging situations. Michele wishes to share her love for yoga and the lifestyle with all who encounter her and help others walk away from their mats with inner peace, compassion and one step closer to the person they inspire to be.
Ancient wisdom tells us, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” A Cold Spring Harbor native, Kate taught yoga in the Denver-Boulder metro area before meeting Prasada’s Mel Salvador on a visit home from Colorado. Sharing Mel’s vision, Kate knew she had met her true teacher.
Certified in Vinyasa and Hot yoga, Kate’s empathetic teaching style mirrors her philosophy of always being as a student, first. Riding a light vibe, Kate encourages everyone to see the big picture, be present and practice for the sheer joy of uncompetitive movement. Her transparent nature inspires people to be themselves, experiment, laugh and relax into the deep somatic and mental revelations of their practice.
Kate is an avid reader and nature lover. Some of her favorite books are Autobiography of a Yogi, Twilight of the Idols, Man’s Search for Meaning and The Good Earth. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Emory University and a Masters of Communications from the New York Institute of Technology. Kate is often recognized for her work as a broadcast journalist on FOX TV Stations and the News 12 Networks. She realized her true calling as an advocate of the mind-body connection amidst today’s catalytic, digital landscape where Eastern and Western thought are merging like never before. Kate lives her passion for yoga on and off the mat...and, always, outside the box.
